10 Years Of Serving Niagara, And New Country 89.1 Is Throwing A Party

For ten years, New Country 89.1 has been bringing the newest and freshest country hits to the Niagara Region. The station’s location on Forks Road in Welland was long home to CHOW-AM, which broadcast country music from 1975 until a format change in 1999.

Country music on Niagara’s airwaves was nowhere to be found until 2015 when an application submitted  by GIANT FM was approved and Niagara's New Country 89.1 was launched and we've been building a large and loyal audience ever since.

The 10 year anniversary party is just beginning. Over the past 4 weeks, we've given away tickets to Lainey Wilson, Luke Bryan, Morgan Wallen, Jordan Davis and Dierks Bentley! Some BIG ticket shows!

February 21 was a truly special day for us. We started the day with Canadian country star Tim Hicks live on-air all morning, giving away tickets to his upcoming Niagara Falls show with special guest Owen Riegling — a fantastic moment for our staff, listeners and advertisers as a testament to the incredible relationships that have been built over the years.

In addition, we were proud to give back to the Niagara community as we also donated $3,000 to local Niagara charities and food banks which was donated by our generous listeners at promotional events like our “Haulin’ For Hunger Campaign” during the month of December!

Our commitment to local radio and the communities we serve is very important and key to the success of New Country 89.1 and ALL stations in the My Broadcasting Corp family!

Here’s to many more years of bringing great country music and community spirit to Niagara!

Buckle up Niagara the party's just starting!!
