Corus Entertainment is thrilled to announce the return of Jesse Reynolds, who is making the leap from morning radio to television news as a videographer with Global News Kingston. This exciting new chapter marks Reynolds' third stint with Corus, demonstrating his resilience and commitment to the media landscape.
Jesse Reynolds' journey began in 2015 when he participated in a citywide talent search for a new co-host on Ottawa’s Top 40 radio station, Jump! Out of nearly 300 candidates, he emerged victorious, launching his successful radio career. Jesse and his co-host, Jenna Mosher, garnered attention when they were laid off in 2018 during company restructuring, as their beloved local show was replaced by a syndicated program from the United States. Despite public outcry, the decision stood firm.
In 2021, Corus reached out to Reynolds with an unexpected opportunity to relocate to Kingston and join longtime host Monica Lapajne for a new morning radio show. In early 2022, Fresh Mornings with Monica & Jesse debuted, quickly becoming a favorite among local listeners. Unfortunately, in July 2024, many Corus employees in Kingston, including Reynolds, were laid off amid further restructuring.
However, in a remarkable turn of events, Jesse Reynolds has been invited back to Corus just four months later. This time, he is excited to embrace a new role in television news with Global News Kingston.
Jesse shared his excitement about this new opportunity, “They say you haven’t really made it in media until you’ve been fired—so how about twice, from the same company? Imagine my surprise when I got the call inviting me back for round three! Did someone light the Black Flame Candle? It's a true Halloween miracle. I’m thrilled to be rejoining Corus, a company that’s always been fantastic to work with, and excited to dive into a new side of the business with Global News Kingston. Making the jump from comedy to news might seem like trading punchlines for headlines, but let’s be honest—a lot of the time, they’re one and the same anyway.” Finishing his statement with his hallmark wit and sass.
Jaye Mackinson, TV News Program Director with Corus Entertainment added, "Jesse's extensive experience on-air and on-stage, coupled with his outgoing personality, and growing connection to the Kingston community, not to mention his enthusiasm for broadcasting, all makes him an exciting addition to our news team."
Jesse Reynolds will begin his new endeavor with Global News Kingston in November 2024. For more information, tune in to CKWS-TV or visitglobalnews.ca/kingston (http://globalnews.ca/kingston).
