Global Calgary Turns 70

Today, marks the 70th birthday of Global Calgary!

Global Calgary, Calgary’s first television station, signed on for the first time on October 8, 1954, with offices, studios and antennas located just west of the city. The station was called several names over the years, most famously Channel 2 and 7, which launched as the Global News brand in 1979.

Global Calgary continues to focus on the community with weekday and weekend newscasts and through supporting local events.
