WHAT: On Thursday, February 13th, Benztown and P1 Media Group will host a free webinar for radio professionals around the globe, entitled “What Radio Can Learn From America’s #1 Music Format.” In the run-up to Country Radio’s biggest annual event next week, CRS 2025 in Nashville, the webinar will focus on Country music, the #1 format in the U.S., with over 2,000 radio stations programming it.
The webinar features special guest and one of America’s top Country PDs, Mike Preston, a 40-year programming pro who programs two of the most listened-to Country stations in America – Cumulus Media’s 99.5 The Wolf (KPLX-FM) and New Country 96.3 (KSCS-FM) in Dallas, TX. The 40-minute webinar will be hosted by Andreas Sannemann, CEO, Benztown, and Ken Benson, Partner, P1 Media Group.
In Thursday’s webinar, Preston will discuss:
• The state of Country Radio in 2025.
• The rise of Pop crossover hits the past few years, from artists including Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll, Post Malone, and Shaboozey.
• What he learned from his eight years working for Scott Shannon at WPLJ New York that he still uses today.
• How he remains at the top of his game after programming major stations in many formats in major markets for 40 years.
• What he thinks programmers can or should be doing today to improve that they may not be doing.
• What stations he listens to – other than 99.5 The Wolf and New Country 96.3 – and why?
• His observations on the mental health crisis in the industry.
• His advice for what PDs should do to succeed at a time where they are being asked to do more with fewer resources.
