As Canadians prepare for the highly anticipated federal election, Corus Entertainment is excited to announce the addition of respected broadcaster Kevin Frankish as the interim host of Toronto Today on 640 Toronto beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, March 19.
640 Toronto host, Greg Brady, is stepping away from the microphone temporarily to pursue his political aspirations and run for office in Ajax. In the interim, Kevin – a seasoned broadcaster with extensive experience in breaking news and politics – will host Toronto Today with Kevin Frankish weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. ET, providing Canadians with insightful and timely coverage during this crucial election period.
“I’ve made a big decision to seek the House of Commons seat in the riding of Ajax as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada,” said radio host Greg Brady. “As such, ethically, and practically, the right thing is to take a leave of absence from the 640 Toronto airwaves. My colleagues and the listeners mean the world to me, and I will still be on your team, your side, and rooting for great things, as hopefully you are for me.”
Kevin Frankish is a decorated Canadian broadcaster with a distinguished career and numerous accolades, including being named Top TV Personality on 10 occasions. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in recognition of his outstanding contributions to both broadcasting and community service. Kevin’s most recent role as a long-time anchor on Breakfast Television, where he spent 27 years, earned him the trust of Canadians through his perceptive reporting on the nation’s current affairs.
“I'm thrilled to be joining the team at 640 Toronto – a powerful place for important conversations,” said new radio host Kevin Frankish. “Every morning, I am going to do my best in trying to help you make sense of what is becoming an increasingly senseless world. I will be asking the questions of newsmakers, and demanding the answers I know that you want, however, I will always try to send you off into your day in a positive way.”
National Director of Talk Radio, Mike Bendixen, said the addition of Kevin is “part of Corus Radio’s continued commitment to bringing listeners the best original, Canadian content, delivered by exceptional talent.”
Listen to Toronto Today with Kevin Frankish on 640 Toronto Monday to Friday beginning March 19, and join the political conversation.
