News Director - Leduc, Stony Plain & Ponoka AB

We’re serious about local news … and we’re searching for the next News Director to lead our team!  

Blackgold Broadcasting owns and operates the only local radio stations serving Leduc, Stony Plain and Ponoka, Alberta.

Our audience has a huge appetite for local news. We’re not your typical FM “rip and read” news room.  We’re in the community reporting live, breaking stories and relating the day’s news on the radio.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Position is based in Leduc, Alberta.

- Lead our team of news anchors/reporters in Leduc, Stony Plain and Ponoka.

- Prepare and Anchor the Morning Newscasts on our three radio stations.

- Report live, breaking news stories as they occur in our communities.

- Source and write local and regional news stories through established contacts and all other available sources.

- Monitor police and other emergency services as sources of news.

- Re-write appropriate regional, national and international news that is relevant to our local listening audience.

Qualified candidates will be graduates of a recognized broadcast journalism program and/or have previous experience leading a radio newsroomand possess excellent writing and communication skills.
