Perfect.  Then you just might be the newsperson we’re looking for here at 102.9 CHTM FM (610 CHTM AM) in Thompson, Manitoba.

 

Here at Arctic Radio (1982) Ltd. we have an opening for a news reporter-announcer who we hope will embrace the challenge that comes with being the only local news operation in the city.

 

It’s an important role and one that comes with a high level of responsibility, trust,  and opportunity.

This is a full-time position that’s ideal for a new graduate of broadcast school or a media program at a college or university.   You may have your diploma in hand and are looking for your first opportunity to break into the broadcast industry.

Here’s what we’re looking for.   A person who:

 

· is creative, innovative and curious.

· is motivated to provide local and regional news to our listeners and to develop the contacts that will enable them to do so.

· has impressive organizational skills and an eye to details.                                          

· can juggle and meet numerous deadlines and thrives in a busy environment.

· can work co-operatively with a variety of people.

· is experienced and competent with computers.

 

Duties include:

 

· Covering meetings and community events and generating local news stories.

· Reaching out to local, provincial and national organizations to source out potential interviews, coordinating those interviews and developing interview questions.

· Conducting and editing interviews for on-air broadcast and our website.

 

Previous radio experience is helpful, but a minimum of broadcast school training is necessary.
