Position: Senior News Producer, Broadcast and Digital, CTV Barrie

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime, weekends and shift work as required
Responsibilities
As a key member of the leadership team in the Barrie Newsroom, this experienced journalist will lead content-execution strategies for all platforms: Television, Radio and Digital. Guiding the quality, balance, and style of both broadcast and digital stories, this role supports the successful execution of all newsroom broadcasts and content to the highest standards. The successful candidate will work with the News Director to elevate brand growth, build community presence in broadcast and digital platforms.
Work with News Director, Digital Lead, Producers and content-creators to execute high-quality broadcasts and digital coverage that drives audience engagement
Evaluate and approve sound ethical scripts and video for broadcast and digital
Review rundowns and scripts for flow, relevance, context, maximized audience engagement Generate strong story ideas that are relevant to the local and regional audiences
Develop ideas for branding and revenue opportunities in television, radio and digital properties
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Post Secondary Education in Broadcasting, or Journalism At least five years of experience in a newsroom
Demonstrated success in a leadership position in a newsroom Evidence of strong collaboration skills, people management
Proven ability to grow team members and provide feedback on the work of others
Sound news judgment, experience vetting stories for fairness, ethics, and legalities to CTV best practices
Conflict-resolution abilities and understanding of and ability to lead others according to Bell’s Code of Conduct, Civility in the Workplace policies
Exceptional broadcast and digital writing skills, adhering to CP style Competitive drive to win and strong sense of urgency
Knowledge of television production procedures, terminology and equipment capabilities Excellent organizational, time management, communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to react quickly and productively in a changing environment requiring immediate decision-making
Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and work with minimal supervision Ability to foster a positive attitude and collaborative environment
